What does it mean to be an Indian?

I was recently asked by the department of Religious Studies in my College do to a presentation on India...and when I asked the coordinator what he wanted me to stress on...He simply said, "Tell us what does it mean to be an Indian?"....

This got me thinking real hard...coz....I do not live in India, I do not worship regularly, I am not a spiritual person, I do not practise yoga, I do not speak an Indian language in my day to day conversations, I do not greet people with "Namaste" even when I was in India, My everyday attire is not a sari or a salwar kameez, I did not have an arranged marriage....well u get the picture...

And I know quite a few people who are on this boat with me...Does it mean being an Indian has been reduced to our citizenship status? And if that changes then it becomes merely our ethnicity? Have we all become a floating global population without any attachment to our motherland????? I am sure someone would say that we are traitors who have betrayed our country......I say we are opportunists grabbing the best opportunities to make ourselves a better life (personal perspectives on this differ!).....

What does it mean to be an Indian to you????????????
