“also when i go to microsoft.com to get the sp2 it throws me back to http:// begin2search com/404.html :(”
Cera: So in addition to the PowerSearch toolbar, you seem to have Begin2Search as well? Begin2Search was somehow installed into my own computer this morning, but I got rid of it at:
If you look under “Download Now”, there will be something that says: “If you already have the Begin2search toolbar installed, please click here to uninstall the toolbar”
Do as it says, and click it. :)
For some unknown reason thispointer.com gets huge number of hits from google for the search keywords, "how to remove sirsearch", it seems to be a browser hijacking program. I know how annoying that can be , I had to reinstall my OS once to get rid of them. So I did some search so that hte people who visit thispointer will not be disappointed.
here is what i found in a mailing list
Here's what I found. Within the registry I did NOT find any references to SirSearch, but when going BAck from the SirSearch Page, I noticed that it was actually a redirect. So I went looking for the redirect page, Euniverse. What I found after much effort was several references to BHO.eunivBho in a couple of different formats. I checked the hard drive again and discovered (finally) a subdirectory of a DataMiner folder C:\program Files\IncredFind\BHO.
I renamed the IncredFind folder and NOW I no longer get the Sir Search site.
